Transport Canada authorises IN-FLIGHT Data to operate drone swarms BVLOS for wildfires
Transport Canada has granted IN-FLIGHT Data unprecedented authorization to operate drone swarms for wildfire management beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS), up to an altitude of 2,500 feet in Class F and Class G airspace. The approval marks a new milestone in remote aviation for wildfire fighting and allows the drone services company to conduct operations day or night, offering more efficient data collection and targeted responses to wildfires. The move aligns with Transport Canada's ongoing efforts to establish regulations for low-risk BVLOS drone operations and its long-term objective of safely integrating drones into Canadian airspace, mirroring similar initiatives in other ICAO countries like the U.S., European Union, Australia, and New Zealand.
