Oron: Israel set to test its most advanced spy plane yet
Israel's Defense Ministry has announced plans to test its most advanced surveillance aircraft, the 'Oron.' The AI-enabled Oron was developed through collaboration between the ministry's research division and Israel Aerospace Industries. The aircraft is a modified Gulfstream jet fitted with sensors and intelligence systems. According to the ministry, Oron provides 'unprecedented intelligence capabilities' enabling real-time monitoring of ground movements in diverse conditions.
The Israeli Air Force's 122nd Squadron will operate the Oron from Nevatim Airbase once testing is complete. The ministry said Oron's systems have been fully implemented as it proceeds toward final delivery to the air force. An IDF officer stated Oron exemplifies the combined strength of all IDF branches. The ministry said testing represents a milestone in Oron's development before final delivery to become operational.
