UAE launches new large language model proficient in generating Arabic content
The UAE has unveiled Jais, a highly accurate large language model (LLM) proficient in Arabic, aimed at integrating the language into mainstream AI applications. Developed in collaboration between Inception, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi’s AI firm G42, Mohammed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, and Silicon Valley’s Cerebras Systems, Jais was trained on the Condor Galaxy, touted as the world's largest AI supercomputer. The model surpasses existing Arabic LLMs in accuracy and is available for download via the machine-learning platform Hugging Face. Designed primarily for governmental use in sectors like finance, energy, and healthcare, Jais is part of a broader initiative to focus on non-English language models and has been endorsed by multiple public and private entities within the UAE.
