Brazil to double air fleet as part of $10.6 billion investment

Brazil has unveiled plans to invest 52.8 billion reals (about $10.6 billion) in research, development, and equipment acquisition for its military as part of the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC). This initiative includes doubling the size of its Gripen fighter fleet by producing and acquiring 34 F-39 Gripen fighters, with a technology-sharing agreement between Brazilian engineers and Saab. The plan also involves purchasing nine C-390 Millennium planes and converting two Airbus A330 aircraft into aeromedical and aerial refueling planes. While the PAC does not require legislative approval, financial challenges could arise due to budget cuts and economic factors, according to experts.
