Israeli firm looks to expand Arctic footprint of loitering munitions
Israeli manufacturer UVision conducted the first test of its Hero-120 loitering munition in the Arctic, aiming to expand its presence in the region. The test took place in undisclosed sub-zero temperatures, evaluating the drone's capabilities under extreme weather conditions. Equipped with photographic sensors and infrared cameras, the system was tested at night, and several defense forces with Arctic warfare expertise attended the demonstration. UVision expressed interest in meeting potential customer demands for the drone in the region. While no Nordic countries currently use the Hero systems, they often purchase Israeli weaponry. UVision plans to further enhance the Hero-120's capabilities for Arctic conditions. The evaluation confirmed the drone's combat effectiveness in the Arctic environment and its compliance with storage and transportation requirements, addressing military needs in the broader northern and eastern European context.
