The HSWERX innovation hub, a collaboration between the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) and DEFENSEWERX (DWX), is organizing a Collaboration Event (CE) aimed at addressing the requirements and standards for Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) technologies. The CE will bring together participants from various sectors to identify solutions for miniaturizing capabilities of sUAS to achieve safe operations within the National Airspace System (NAS) by meeting Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) sense and avoid requirements. The event will include discussions, networking, and problem-solving sessions, and potential solutions may lead to an Assessment Event (AE) for further analysis. The CE is scheduled for September 20, 2023, in the Washington, DC area and will involve stakeholder introductions, expert panels, problem statement development, and discussions on overcoming challenges related to sUAS BVLOS operations.
