Ukraine signs three new contracts with Baykar, manufacturer of Bayraktar drones – Minister

Ukraine signs three new contracts with Turkey-based drone manufacturer Baykar on April 29, 2023. The contracts, signed at the Teknofest international aviation exhibition in Istanbul, have not been publicly detailed yet. But, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Strategic Industries, two Ukrainian companies are signatories.

The Ministry emphasized productive cooperation with Baykar, a company that has persistently made headlines during the Russo-Ukraine war for its supply of advanced uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) to the Ukrainian side. Baykar remains intent on following through on a plan to build a plant in Ukraine, despite the ongoing war, while a jet-powered Baykar drone, the Bayraktar Kızılelma, was tested in 2022 using Ukrainian engines.
