The NSA Is Warning AI Startups: ‘China Is Coming For You’
The United States National Security Agency (NSA) is sounding the alarm on the potential threat China’s government poses to American artificial intelligence startups. The NSA notes in recent days that China seeks to steal AI technologies from startups while the Pentagon’s intelligence chief, Gen. Paul Nakasone, warns of adversaries’ use of advanced AI tools.
The warnings come as the technological and political worlds are taken in by generative AI - the technology underpinning conversational AIs like ChatGPT. Generative AI is quickly finding defense and security applications which the NSA believes China will pursue with vigor. Nakasone alluded to the disproportionate benefits US adversaries may have in adopting AI ‘now that the genie is out of the bottle.’
