Ukraine launches ‘BRAVE1′ tech cluster to boost military capability

The Ukrainian government launches an initiative aimed at promoting and streamlining innovation in the development of drones and related technologies. The initiative, dubbed BRAVE1, reflects the critical importance Ukraine’s Armed Forces places on these technologies in its war with Russia.

BRAVE1 will bring state, military, and private sector developers who independently work on defense issues together into a ‘tech cluster.’ As part of the launch, Ukraine’s digital transformation Minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, says that the government has ‘earmarked more than 100 million hryvnias (about $2.7 million)’ (approximately €2.4 million) to fund projects. BRAVE1 ultimately seeks to provide a ‘platform’ that links Ukraine’s younger, technologically-savvy generation with the immediate demands of the war that has seen innovative uses of uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) and other drone technologies.
