US Army Awards Raytheon $237 Million Counter-UAS Contract
Published on April 24, 2023
The United States Army rewards Raytheon Technologies with a contract for Ku-band Radio Frequency Sensors and Coyote effectors. The effectors are designed to detect and destroy uncrewed aircraft. The contract is worth $237 million (approximately €215 million).
The contract constitutes the procurement of counter-uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS) particularly for low-flying, small uncrewed aerial systems (UAS). Operating on fixed sites or mobile systems, the KuRFS and the Coyote deliver ‘persistent detection, identification and tracking of airborne threats.’ The Coyote Block 2, in particular, is designed to take on individual drones and swarms that vary in size and maneuverability.
