Leonardo CEO pick Cingolani may signal cybersecurity, AI focus

Italy-based defense and aerospace company Leondaro may be signaling a new artificial intelligence and cyber focus with the nomination of its new CEO, Roberto Cingolani.

Cingolani joined Leonardo in 2019 as the company’s chief technology and innovation officer. He was notably involved in ‘spearheading cyber and AI programs’ before taking up a government post. Movement in this direction would not be a surprise as Leonardo has, in recent months, made substantive engagements with machine learning and other AI techniques in the service of defense innovation.
