Anduril autonomous drones to aid Ukraine
United States-based defense company Anduril Industries is providing Ukraine with Altius 600M drones. The news comes from the Pentagon which included Anduril’s drones in its February 2023 $2 billion (€1.8 billion) aid package to Ukraine in its war against Russia.
The Altius 600M has a demonstrated capability for ‘air-launched effects’ - the drone can be launched from a moving aerial vehicle, such as a helicopter. The drone’s modular nosecone can also carry a number of different payloads including intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) and signals intelligence sensors, and electronic warfare assets, among others. It can, if necessary, be ‘configured’ to operate as a kamikaze drone to strike ‘high-value targets with a 3kg warhead.’
