Russia Forms Drone, Microchip Investment Fund – Vedomosti
Published on April 12, 2023
Russia’s National Technology Initiative (NTI) establishes a ‘joint venture fund’ designed to boost the country’s domestic drone and microchip industries. The move comes amid a shortage of advanced electronics during Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine.
NTI Venture Funding is expected to invest 6.4 billion rubles ($82.2 million) into 20 separate project entities. These include, among others, uncrewed aviation, robotics, microelectronics, wireless communication, and cargo delivery. The funding timeline is slated until 2029. The NTI, it should be noted, has already invested 16.72 billion rubles ($215 million) on nearly 60 projects in 2022.
