Netherlands to house new $1.1 billion NATO innovation fund

The Netherlands will host the one billion Euro (USD $1.07 billion) NATO Innovation Fund (NIF). NIF, designed to spur the development of startups working in critical technology areas, will officially launch in July 2023.

The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs put out a statement emphasizing the multinational nature of NIF and the mutual benefits Dutch startups will have by raising capital through it or within the blossoming innovation ecosystem. NIF will bring together governments, private sector actors, and academia in the service of sharpening and retaining NATO’s ‘technological edge.’
