Indian Army receives ‘swarming' UAVs

The Indian Army acquires its first batch of uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) capable of ‘swarming.’ Bangalore-based startup Newspace Research & Technologies delivered the UAVs per a contract awarded by the Army in September 2021 worth USD $15 million.

The UAV swarm is known in the Indian Army as the ‘autonomous surveillance and armed drone swarm’ (A-SADS). They possess kinetic attack capabilities and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) applications. A-SADS can also act as communication relays.
