DSEI Japan 2023: MHI Showcases Whale USV Development

Japan-based Mitsubishi Heavy Industries unveils its ‘Whale’ uncrewed surface vessel (USV) at DSEI Japan 2023.

The Whale USV is being designed for multiple applications. Its key features include remote control and autonomous navigation, automatic launch and recovery of mine disposal systems, the launch and recovery of uncrewed underwater vehicles (UUVs), and the launch and recovery of uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs). The company’s DSEI representative claims the Whale has already been successfully demonstrated at sea during live tests.
