
Armscor re-issues army UAV tender

The South African Army puts its plans to acquire uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) on hold because certain bidders ‘did not meet critical criteria.’ The information comes from Armscor, a government-owned defense and security materiel agency.
A new tender has nonetheless been issued for the same UAVs, this time indicating that four UAVs are sought by the Army. The UAVs are expected to be used for reconnaissance and target acquisition. The tender contains several technical specifications, making clear that the desired UAVs are small, lightweight, and human-operated from a maximum distance of 15km.
