The problem of codifying AI

Modern soldiers’ increasing reliance on artificial intelligence for actionable insights is emerging as a common thread among military innovations. Codifying AI, however, remains a challenge for the military organizations rushing to adopt and integrate it.

The sheer amount of data militaries now collect is among the most burdensome challenges those tasked with codifying AI face. Regulatory frameworks for storing and processing such data - a coherent system of categorizing them - are vital defense needs. Any approaches to codification and regulation of data and AI by defense organizations may be significant markers of their capabilities in the future.
