
Clearing the air: India progresses counter-UAV capability

The Indian Armed Forces are prioritizing the development of counter-uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS). The adoption of uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) by India’s adversaries has spurred a consistent push in this direction.
The adoption and use of military UAS by countries like China and Pakistan, particularly for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), represent one motivation for India’s C-UAS efforts. India is also acutely aware of the crude but increasingly effective uses of UAS by non-state actors. The Indian Air Force is leading the adoption of C-UAS as these threats emerge.
