General Atomics, UAE advance talks over MQ-9B drones

United States-based defense and energy company General Atomics is in late-stage talks with the United Arab Emirates over the procurement of the MQ-9B SeaGuardian.

Export approval and clearance for the capabilities associated with the MQ-9B - an uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) - can be a ‘lengthy process.’ Despite geopolitically-driven export regulations, General Atomics continued talks with the UAE. The MQ-9B’s main selling point for the UAE is its continuous maritime domain awareness support.
