Autonomous minehunter arrives in the Gulf for trials

An uncrewed, autonomous minehunting vessel belonging to the United Kingdom’s Royal Navy arrives in the Arabian Gulf. Its autonomous capabilities will be put to the test in the high-heat and high-stress environment.

The RNMB Harrier is part of a Royal Navy effort to replace its crewed mine countermeasure vessels with autonomous and uncrewed capabilities. The Harrier is capable of operating autonomously and remotely from an afloat or ashore control center. Ideally, future autonomous minehunters will work collaboratively with remotely-operated uncrewed underwater vessels (UUVs) and minesweepers.
