
South Korea pushes to boost arms exports through investments in private-military cooperation, research

South Korea looks to increase its arms exports by reinforcing public-private military technology cooperation and fostering a skilled defense industry workforce.
The South Korean government aims to invest ₩1.5 trillion (or $1.18 billion) through 2027 in areas including advanced technologies used in the development of weapons. The government plans a ₩200 billion (or approximately $157 million) investment in local arms production and personnel support. Notably, a five-year investment is being designed for 16 technology fields, including AI, space, and robotics.
