Eric Schmidt Is Building the Perfect AI War-Fighting Machine

Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt is attempting to streamline the testing of new US military technologies by virtually assembling them in the metaverse. A startup he backs, Istari, intends to use machine learning to bring together various pieces of untested military hardware in a virtual domain.

Pointing to the rapid testing and fielding of new technologies in the Russo-Ukrainian war, Schmidt believes the US Department of Defense (DoD) needs to better align its private sector dependencies with its public sector procurement regulations. He sees AI as two sides of the same coin: revolutionary for warfighting, and necessary to make the warfighting revolution possible.
