Reliable Robotics to Study Large Aircraft Automation for USAF
Published on February 13, 2023
United States-based Reliable Robotics is contracted by the US Air Force to study the automation of large, multi-engine aircraft. The Air Force is interested in both limited and full automation of cargo operations.
Reliable Robotics aims to enable the Air Force to ‘close logistical gaps’ through the automation of large cargo aircraft. This will allow the Air Force to pursue its joint warfighting concept while also ‘outfitting legacy aircraft with cutting-edge automation kits.’ Reliable is also working on a ‘certifiable autopilot system’ which allows a human operator to supervise its operation remotely.
