The United States Navy has signed a $15 million contract with defense technology company Kratos to acquire XQ-58A Valkyrie drones, for which the U.S. Air Force has also expressed interest. The contract was awarded by the Naval Air System Command (NAVAIR).
The acquisition is part of the Navy’s and Air Force’s sixth-generation modernization efforts, in which unmanned and autonomous systems, like the Valkyrie drones, are considered critical.
