
How information technology modernization can ‘future proof’ NATO

Attendees of NATO’s Edge Conference in October 2022, hosted in Belgium, gathered to deliberate on how to ‘future proof’ the alliance. They discussed NATO’s long-standing assets, including technology, partnerships, and collaboration, and how to preserve them.
A consensus seemed to form around the need to modernize the information technology tools used by the alliance. In particular, they recognized that leveraging ‘digital transformations’ being driven by emerging technologies like AI is underpinned by enhanced IT capabilities. Attendees saw these as the ‘technological connective tissue of NATO’s vision.’
