Textron Systems’ Aerosonde® Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Takes First Maritime Flight Aboard USS Miguel Keith

Textron Systems Corporation’s unmanned aerial support vehicle - the Aerosonde Unmanned Aircraft System - takes its first operational flight from the United States Navy’s USS Miguel Keith.

The uncrewed aerial system (UAS) is designed to extend the range of intelligence, reconnaissance, and surveillance (ISR) services with ‘enhanced payloads’ directly from the vessel. Textron believes the UAS can act as a ‘remote sensor’ that increases maritime domain awareness and security. A total of 4 Aerosonde systems are currently supporting US Navy ships.
