US Navy Launches AI-Enabled Program to Support Fleet Readiness

The US Navy has launched an AI-enabled platform aboard its USNS Robert E. Peary to enhance fleet readiness. The Class 1 Common Operating Picture (CL1P) program was created to aid response plan decision-making. The initial phase of the program revolves around monitoring the logistics of food supply and demand on board, however there are plans to expand the program across a wider range of Navy’s supply chain. 

CL1P will use IBM’s Watson, an AI-integrated platform, as the backbone of the system. Watson will provide supply and demand modeling and matching systems.
