Published on February 2, 2023
Ukraine plans to spend roughly 20 billion hryvnia (or $540 million) on drones in 2023, per the country’s defense minister. Uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) have proven to be highly effective in the Russo-Ukrainian war, with both sides investing heavily in uncrewed systems.
Ukraine’s announcement reveals that the use of UAVs will go beyond reconnaissance, with Oleksii Reznikov noting ‘this is just the beginning.’ A total of 16 Ukrainian manufacturers are on the list of suppliers, as well as foreign producers like German-based Quantum-Systems’ Vector reconnaissance drones.
